Difference between Oil Portraits and Digital Paintings

Due to their unique strengths and weaknesses, oil paintings and digital paintings are the two most popular forms of art. The process of making both forms of paintings is different, and the time needed to create them is also not the same. Oil portraits are costlier than digital paintings and they require a lot of effort. Oil painting portraits are handmade and artists use real paints using brushes to the canvas. Whereas, digital portraits are made using digital software and tools on a computer or laptop. Many available programs provide digital brushes, blending modes, and many other effects to create a digital painting. If any mistake is made during the process, it can be easily erased but in the case of oil portraits, the mistakes made can be permanent and cannot be easily erased. Therefore, for a portrait painter, it is very important to be careful and alert.

Oil paintings are very special due to their flexible colors and the ability to build up many layers of paint in painting techniques. After consulting the subject, a portrait painter starts their work. Due to this, there is established a personalized connection which is reflected in the painting. Portraits that are painted by hand can be made as per the needs of the customer. Hand made painted portraits are environment-friendly as it does not use any printing technology or digital equipment. These portraits can be created in a wide range of textures such as oil, water color, pastel, oil, and other media. In the case of hand-made portraits, real paints are used, and therefore vibrant colors can be used but in the case of digital paintings, it is not possible.

What are the applications of digital art?

The work which is made using digital technology, or presented on digital technology is called digital art. Digital art includes images, that are made on a computer, or those hand-drawn images, which are scanned into a computer and finished using certain programs. Initially, the term digital art was used for computer painting programs, and it can be said that digital art is a merger between art and technology. Any type of animation, photographs, videos, digital paintings, and videos are classified as digital art.
